The Wayward Crescent is an asymmetrical landing net, crafted with precision and care. The goal for this unique design has always been to bring the net closer to the angler's rod hand, enhancing the ease of landing a hard-fought trout.

This distinctive design is particularly favored by anglers who pursue the local, naturally spawning trout here in our beloved home state of Pennsylvania. Our inspiration for this design stemmed from witnessing Justin's grandfather deftly employ this style during Justin's childhood. While it may not be the most conventional choice, its beauty and unparalleled functionality set it apart.

Crafting the Wayward Crescent was a labor of love, spanning a year and undergoing numerous iterations. Without the constraints of a deadline, we savored the process of refining it until it met our exacting standards. Despite its asymmetry, we were determined to incorporate our signature flat Wayward top, and after many iterations, we seamlessly integrated it into the crescent design.

Complete with a thumb groove and a trigger-style finger grip, this ergonomic masterpiece fits snugly in your hand, offering unparalleled comfort and control. For added convenience, simply leave a note at checkout specifying whether you prefer a left or right-handed landing net.

The Wayward Landing Net is handcrafted in the USA! We believe that the best fly fishing nets are made with traditional craftsmanship and local materials and Wayward is proud to produce handcrafted wood landing nets right here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

We went through 4 or 5 different shapes before we settled on what we find to be a great balance of grip and comfort. Our nets are handcrafted with a teardrop shape so that the end of the hoop is large enough to pull in any catch, while the holes of the fish safe rubber net bags are small to avoid losing a smaller catch.

We spend a lot of time picking beautifully grained wood from central Pennsylvania. It is important to stay close by so that we can have a hand in not only picking the most beautiful wood, but also in processing it down correctly. Also, staying local is akin to staying eco friendly.

What is a Wayward Classic Landing Net? The Walnut handle is the centerpiece of the net. Cherry accents marry the Walnut into a Hickory hoop with a Walnut pinstripe. The Classic comes in several different sizes. Review the sizing chart to make sure you get the correct size for you.
